COPD Education Day 2007

The Hawaii COPD Coalition organized three events with partners on November 2, 2007 featuring keynote speaker, Dr. James Kiley, Director of the Lung Division, National Heart Lung Blood Institute of the Department of Health:  Grand Rounds, a COPD Education Day, and a dinner and discussion with key stakeholders and policymakers. 

The COPD Education Day drew over 300 attendees, including over 200 patients and caregivers and over 100 healthcare professionals, exhibitors and volunteers and featured over two dozen exhibits.  Collaborators in the event were the COPD Foundation, Queen's Medical Center, Kaiser Permanente, Hawaii Department of Health (Tobacco Prevention and Education Program & Asthma Control Program), Hawaii Asthma Iniative, University of Hawaii--School of Nursing.  Other partners for the event were:  Hawaii Society for Respiratory Care, Hawaii Pharmacists Association, Alpha-1 Association, American Lung Association of Hawaii, Coalition for Tobacco Free Hawaii, John A. Burns School of Medicine, Hawaii Thoracic Society, Kapiolani Community College Respiratory Therapy Program, HMSA/Healthways.
